Biography

Mrs. Cathcart

Hello! My name is Megan Cathcart and I am looking forward with anticipation and hope for this coming year at Heritage Christian Academy.

As a person trying to follow Jesus, I am grateful that I work in Christian education because I get to walk alongside high school students as we continue to discover what that means: living in right and good relationship with those around us, extending justice to the oppressed, loving those on the outside, praying for those who are against us, and forgiving those who mistreat us, just as Jesus did for us.

I also appreciate the critical-thinking, tough questions, and wrestling that happens in high school. This is an opportunity for students to explore and examine faith and have real conversations as they build the foundation of their beliefs and values.

I was raised in Red Deer, Alberta and moved to Calgary in 2012 to attend the University of Calgary where I completed two degrees-- a Bachelor of Arts majoring in English with Distinction and a Bachelor of Education specializing in Secondary education.

This is my sixth year teaching at Heritage Christian Academy. My goal is to approach teaching with humility and curiosity. This year I will be teaching English 20, English 30, Social 20, Social 30, Bible 20/30 and Art 10/20/30. I personally love these subjects and the conversations and experiences that come out of the subject matter.

I live in Airdire with my husband, Ryan (also a high school teacher) and we enjoy nature and the outdoors, roadtripping, Disneyland, and watching really good movies. I also enjoy sewing clothes, reading, and spending time with my niece, Sarah, and nephew, Mason.
